Preventive Maintenance
​
The Trustee Team is in need of Volunteers to help with some maintenance items at church. Having volunteers will limit the amount of contractors that we will have to hire for their services. The following are areas we need help:
​
Landscaping - Trim boxwood bushes and bushes behind church by the a/c units & other landscaping needs.
​
Ongoing Maintenance - Replace Burned out Light Bulbs, change HVAC filter on regular basis
​
Exterior Building Repairs- ​​Replace 2 coach lights beside the glass sanctuary doors. Replace the trim work on the peak of the lower gable on the Sunday school side of building.
​

August Missions Donations

The Missions Committee is asking for donations of travel size toiletry items:
-Soap,
-toothpaste,
-shampoo,
- shave cream,
-disposable razors
-combs, brushes
-deodorant​

These will be donated to the homeless community. Donations may be left in the designated baskets in the vestibule and fellowship hall.

Church in the Park

Online Bible Study (for Women)

Elaine Newcomb will be facilitating an online bible discussion for women on the book, Sacred Rest by Saundra Dalton-Smith tentatively starting Thursday Sept. 26th from 7-8 p.m. This will be a Facebook discussion group. It's not a live group, so you can do it in the comfort of your home! If you are interested in participating or want to know more, see Elaine.

5th Sunday Art Show

We want to display the artistic talents of our members. If you are an artist, wannabee artist, do arts and crafts we want to recognize your work. The display will be in the Fellowship Hall, Sept. 29th during our regular 5th Sunday meal. We will leave the display up for two Sundays so everyone will have a chance to see it. We will have a display area for Children's arts and crafts, Teen Arts and Crafts and Adult Arts and Crafts. More details will follow. We hope you will participate, it should be fun.

and Crafts Show

Pastor Lucinda Sharp
Pastor Sharp came to St. Luke's in July of 2023. She most recently served as pastor of First Methodist in Byrdstown, Tennessee. She also previously served at Alexandria United Methodist.
​
Pastor Sharp has been a licensed Methodist pastor since 2019. She continues her post-graduate studies in order to become fully ordained in the United Methodist Church. She received her bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University with a major in business administration. She has experience in retail management and education, serving as Intervention Coordinator for a local school system.
​
She has been married to her husband Marc for over 40 years. They have one daughter, Darcy, an environmental attorney employed by the U. S. Justice Department in Washington.
​
She moved to the Columbia area in order to devote herself full-time to the work at St. Luke. She stated, “I am very excited to serve at St. Luke UMC, a church with a long history of service to the community.” She added, “I look forward to continuing that tradition of service as we continuously seek new ways to minister to the people of Columbia.
